Surprisingly, I really enjoyed Tenney’s books. They’re longer than some other American Girl books, and they felt more like true chapter books. I think Tenney is a fun character, whose passion and drive is inspiring, and I think Logan is intriguing and they complement each other nicely. However, it’s clear to me that Tenney is loosely based on Taylor Swift, based on appearance and The Bluebird Cafe, but American Girl hasn’t acknowledged that. So, I have to dock points for lack of creativity on their part. Unless Tenney is clearly and admittedly based on Taylor Swift, having a blonde and White country singer just isn’t unique (e.g. Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Faith Hill, Sheryl Crow, etc).
