I truly loved this little series. The mixture of fact and fiction meant that I learned more about each character, while also learning more about history. There were details in each book that I was learning for the first time. The authors’ depictions of the tragedies and events made me confront the danger and frightening circumstances, and relate it to my own life as an adult in the 21st century. I highly recommend looking through my summaries below, but also finding copies of the full books to learn even more.

The Real Stories From My Time series was published by Scholastic between 2018 and 2019. Each book features a select historical character, and intersperses chapters of factual information with story chapters involving the related character. Each story covers a real historical event close to the character’s time period.
