Kathleen’s story is actually very nice. It’s on the shorter side, and is an educational and enjoyable read. The story isn’t as dark as the other _Girls of Many Lands_ books, either, which could make it a good story for slightly younger children. This doll has a beautiful green dress complete with the brat with yellow, silky lining on the underside. The doll’s eyes seem to look to the side, as if she’s holding a secret.

Official Fandom Page: Kathleen Murphy

Twelve-year-old Kathleen lives in Dublin, Ireland in 1937. She is aware her family has a low social status, and hopes one day to be rich herself. Kathleen is curious about the world and life beyond Ireland. She asks a lot of questions and doesn’t understand why adults don’t always have good enough reasons for what they do and why. She often finds herself in trouble with the nuns at school, but she is always honest with herself and others.
