Bengal, India – 1939
9/10
Neela’s story is beautifully written. It’s got some educational content, but I wish there was a little bit more. The doll is pretty and the doll’s clothing is really beautiful. I ended up docking a point because the chapters are long, and may make it challenging for young readers to have natural breaking points. But overall, the story is really heartwarming and a wonderful story.
