Corinne Tan is a thoughtful, quietly anxious Chinese American girl living in Aspen, Colorado, and adjusting to life in a new blended family with her mother, her stepfather Arne, and her little sister, Gwynn. Corinne tends to keep her worries to herself, and she’s navigating a lot at once: a new home with unfamiliar rules, the awkwardness she imagines within her blended family, and hurtful anti-Asian prejudice during the COVID-19 pandemic. A skilled skier who loves her dog, Flurry, Corinne gradually learns to speak up about how she feels and to see that her family is stronger and closer than she feared.
Gwynn Tan is Corinne’s younger sister—bubbly, artistic, and bursting with energy. Where Corinne holds everything in, Gwynn speaks her mind freely, and though her big personality sometimes exasperates her older sister, her openness helps the family find its way. Gwynn was released as a companion doll alongside Corinne.
American Girl planned to release a short film for Corinne in 2022, but it was pushed back until July 2023. Corinne Tan is now available on Amazon Prime.
