Lanie Holland is a curious, nature-loving girl who considers herself a scientist through and through. The middle of three sisters, she would rather be outdoors tracking wildlife and running experiments than doing almost anything else, and she keeps a nature journal brimming with “factoids” and observations. She dreams of exploring far-off jungles like her adventurous Aunt Hannah, and she keeps in touch with her best friend Dakota, who’s away in Indonesia helping rescue orangutans, by email. She has a pet bunny named Lulu, and over the course of her story she finds plenty of real adventure right in her own backyard.
