Luciana “Luci” Vega is a confident, endlessly creative girl of Chilean descent who dreams of being the first person to walk on Mars—she calls herself the “Future First Girl on Mars.” Determined and imaginative, she loves sketching her ideas and never gives up on a goal, finally winning her way into Space Camp after entering its essay contest for years. Luci can be impulsive and sometimes listens more with her head than her heart, and she works hard at becoming a better leader and a better big sister to her adopted little sister, Isadora. She’s bilingual in English and Spanish, and treasures a star necklace given to her as a baby.
