Julie Albright & Ivy Ling
San Francisco, CA – 1974Julie Albright is a spirited, creative, and athletic girl who is busy navigating the upheaval of her parents’ divorce. Full of energy and new ideas, Julie is driven by a strong sense of justice. While Julie can be thin-skinned and prone to despair when life feels overwhelming, she consistently meets change with more courage and optimism than those around her. She is a skilled basketball player and crafter, an avid reader of the Little House on the Prairie series and Nancy Drew, a journal keeper, and a daily horoscope reader (a Taurus). Her favorite song is “Julia” by The Beatles (especially when sung by her father), and her favorite food is chocolate fondue.
Ivy Ling is a ten-year-old Chinese-American girl who struggles to balance her Chinese heritage and traditions with her desire to be a regular American kid. She finds Chinese school boring and she doesn’t like eating Chinese food every day. She loves gymnastics, and is considered quite talented at the sport. She hates messing up in front of crowds, and she struggles to understand why Julie keeps trying to change the world.

More Information
When Julie was released in 2007, they released Ivy, her best friend, at the same time. Ivy had a very limited collection compared to Julie.
When BeForever was introduced in 2014, they turned Julie’s six Central Series books into two books: The Big Break: A Julie Classic Volume 1 and Soaring High: A Julie Classic Volume 2. The first volume included the first three books of the Central Series, and the second volume included the last three books. In addition, they released a special choose-your-own-adventure book, A Brighter Tomorrow: My Journey with Julie.
When BeForever ended in 2019, they repackaged the stories again into two books: The Big Break and Julie Takes a Stand. The first book included abridged versions of the first two books of the Central Series, while the second book included abridged versions of the last two. The two middle books from the Central Series, Happy New Year, Julie! and Julie and the Eagles, are completely removed.
