Maryellen Larkin
Daytona Beach, FL – 1954Maryellen is enthusiastic, ambitious, and imaginative. She longs to stand out, but often feels lost in the crowd, especially when surrounded by her five brothers and sisters. When strangers meet her, their first question is almost always what order she is in her family (she’s smack-down in the middle). She usually has to wear a lot of hand-me-downs from her older sisters, contributing to her not feeling like she gets anything special. Due to contracting polio in 1957, one leg is weaker than the other, and she has cold-sensitive lungs. Despite this, she’s a fast runner and strong swimmer, and she enjoys roller-skating. She also loves to draw, and makes drawings as gifts for her friends and family. Even though she feels like she isn’t unique, she most certainly is the one, and only Maryellen.

More Information
Maryellen was released in 2015, during the BeForever era. Therefore, her original books have BeForever subtitles. In addition, they released a special choose-your-own-adventure book, The Sky’s the Limit: My Journey with Maryellen.
When BeForever ended in 2019, they repackaged the stories into two new books of the same title and general story, but dropped the BeForever subtitle: The One and Only and Taking Off. In both books, chapters have been renamed, chapter breaks occur in slightly different places, and several transitions and descriptions have been modified.
