I do of course! Molly and Linda laugh when they see my stunned expression. Molly says it was all those millions of dives that I did when I was teaching her. I was practicing without even realizing.

Linda congratulates me and pats me on the back. And she congratulates Molly for winning the award for the most improved swimmer. I look at the gold medal. It glows in the sun. Once again, the old rhyme comes to my mind: Make new friends, keep the old. One is silver, and the other’s gold. Old friends are important. They shouldn’t be taken for granted. If I go to music camp, I will make new friends, and some may turn out to be silver. But Molly and Linda will always be pure gold, and they’ve shown me that no matter what, Bea has to know that she is pure gold, too.
